Imagine you’re driving a carriage. The horses are crazed, and you can’t control them. What happens?

Now, know that the horses are your senses, and the carriage is your mind. In order to control your mind, you must control your senses.

Untrained, out-of-control senses are adept at flinging the mind off track. They are hunters, always on the prowl. They might be seeking security, love, money, the job, an improved self, entertainment and distraction or positive thoughts.

When they spot prey, your mind must covet. And how do you begin to covet, Clarice? You covet what your senses perceive every day.

And you become externally oriented.

Mercury is going retrograde. You can come out on Tuesday.

Given that Mercury is the planet of communication, when it reverses during retrograde, astrologically –minded people tend to expect petty annoyances with e-mails, misunderstandings, technical malfunctions and an overall failure to communicate. People fear that this may not be the best time to start new business ventures or to sign contracts. They might stay guarded and confirm all meeting times, double-check and revise work and be careful of miscommunication when sending emails back and forth. They will also try to be patient during those anticipated traffic jams.

But, these responses might be excessive. According to Ray Sette, professional astrologer and author of “The Planets Align So Rare: Twelve Dimensions of the Human Potential”, retrograde Mercury gets a bad rap.

“A retrograde Mercury has a positive potential. It’s time to move within, to reflect and review,” Sette said. “It’s all the ‘re’ words.”
